The Martin OMJM John Mayer Signature Acoustic Electric w/Embroidered Hardshell Case combines expressive tone, smooth playability and distinctive appointments developed through Martin's long-running collaboration with John Mayer. Based on Mayer's original limited-edition OM-28JM, the OMJM pairs an Engelmann spruce top with East Indian rosewood back and sides for a balanced, articulate voice with rich overtones and excellent dynamic range. Its long 25.4 inch scale, Low Profile neck and slightly narrower 1-11/16 inch nut give the guitar a distinctive feel, while Fishman Gold Plus Natural I electronics make it ready for amplified performance.
Features
The Engelmann spruce top provides a responsive acoustic voice with excellent sensitivity to changes in playing dynamics, while East Indian rosewood back and sides add depth, clarity and harmonic complexity. The 000-14 Fret body size offers comfortable proportions with a balanced response suited to fingerstyle playing, strumming and contemporary acoustic techniques.
Scalloped X-bracing uses 5/16 inch braces with 1/4 inch tone bars, allowing the top to respond freely while supporting projection and sustain. The 25.4 inch scale gives the OMJM the long-scale response traditionally associated with an Orchestra Model, contributing to clear note definition and a confident feel under the picking hand.
The select hardwood neck uses a Low Profile shape with Martin's Standard Taper. Combined with the 1-11/16 inch nut width, this creates the smooth, relatively streamlined neck feel specifically associated with the OMJM design. The ebony fretboard carries custom mother-of-pearl inlays, including John Mayer's signature detail.
Traditional and signature appointments give the OMJM an elegant appearance. Bold herringbone top inlay is joined by antique white binding, an abalone multi-stripe rosette, a tortoise-pattern pickguard and an East Indian rosewood headplate with Martin's Old Style script logo.
The ebony Modern Belly bridge features a compensated white TUSQ saddle, 2-1/8 inch string spacing and white bridge pins with abalone dots. A bone nut and nickel open-gear tuning machines with butterbean knobs complete the hardware package.
Fishman Gold Plus Natural I electronics provide a discreet amplified solution for live performance and recording. The guitar also includes a special interior label with pre-printed signatures from C.F. Martin IV and John Mayer, individually numbered in sequence.
A Martin embroidered ply hardshell case is included, featuring a laminated wood shell, plush interior and monogrammed exterior for secure storage and transportation.
