The Boss EX-4 Effects Expander Multi-Effects Pedal is designed to expand an existing pedalboard without replacing the pedals and sounds that already work for you. With 120 premium BOSS effects, up to four effects running at once, dedicated utility blocks, flexible routing and deep real-time control, the EX-4 adds a broad range of new sound-shaping possibilities in a compact footprint suited to stage, studio and creative experimentation.

Features

The EX-4 includes 120 BOSS effects covering major categories such as overdrive, distortion, modulation, delay and reverb, along with bass-focused effects and distinctive BOSS sounds including Slow Gear and Slicer. Up to four effects can run simultaneously, including multiple instances of the same effect, allowing for more complex and personalized signal chains.

Dedicated utility blocks include foot volume, two noise suppressors, send/return and divider/mixer functions. Advanced routing supports series, parallel and wet/dry configurations, while the flexible effect loop can place external pedals at different points within the EX-4 signal chain.

Gear Suite makes it easier to build sounds quickly by providing professionally tuned starting points for each effect type. Individual parameters can still be edited in detail, and favourite configurations can be saved for fast recall.

A 2.4 inch colour display shows the complete signal chain, effect blocks, editing parameters and menus. Dedicated FX buttons provide direct access to effect on/off control and deeper parameter editing, while dynamically coloured buttons correspond with effect colours shown on the display.

Two rugged multi-function footswitches can be assigned to effect switching, memory navigation, master bypass, tap tempo, parameter control and other functions. Colour LED surrounds make it easier to identify each footswitch's current role during performance.

Four audio jacks support mono or stereo operation and can also be configured for external effect-loop integration. Additional control is available through external footswitches or an expression pedal, while TRS MIDI input and output provide integration with MIDI pedals, switching systems and external clock sources.
