USED SPECIAL! Gibson 2001 Explorer Gothic Electric Guitar in Satin Black w/Case

Used 2001 USA-made Explorer Gothic with ebony fretboard, moon-and-star inlay, black hardware and hard case

This Gibson Explorer Gothic Electric Guitar in Satin Black w/Hard Case delivers the dark visual attitude, powerful humbucker response and unmistakable shape that made the Explorer Gothic one of Gibson’s most distinctive late-1990s and early-2000s models. This used item has been fully tested and inspected to ensure reliable, enjoyable performance, making it a smart way to add a USA-made Gibson Explorer to your collection at a great value. Based on serial number 01161492, this guitar dates to April 26, 2001 and was likely built through Gibson USA’s Nashville-era production.

Features

The Gothic series look is the standout feature of this Explorer, with a black finish, black pickguard, black truss rod cover, black jack plate and black chrome hardware. Over time, the original satin finish has been naturally burnished to a semi-gloss patina through well-deserved everyday wear, giving this used guitar a played-in character that suits its dark, aggressive style.

The mahogany Explorer body and mahogany neck give the guitar strong sustain, solid midrange and the bold feel players expect from a full-sized Gibson. Its 24.75 inch scale length, 1-11/16 inch nut width and 1959 Rounded Les Paul-style neck profile provide a familiar Gibson playing experience with plenty of support for rhythm work, lead lines and heavier styles.

The ebony fingerboard adds to the guitar’s sleek Gothic identity, with no standard position markers and a single moon-and-star inlay at the 12th fret. This stripped-down visual layout gives the instrument a dramatic look while maintaining a smooth, fast playing surface.

The neck position retains the Gibson 496R ceramic humbucker for strong output, clarity and focused response. The bridge position has been changed to an aftermarket EMG 81, giving the guitar an even tighter, more aggressive bridge sound for high-gain rhythm playing, articulate palm-muted riffs and cutting lead tones.

The Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece provide classic Gibson stability and sustain, while Grover kidney-button tuners offer reliable tuning adjustment. The included hard case gives the guitar proper protection for storage and transport.
